While going through my daily reading of sites, once again dumblittleman came through with another great article by David B. Bohl the author of Slow Down Fast

Just the other day a friend and I were having a conversation about life events and how to accept the outcome. Sometimes it is hard to live with the cards that we are dealt. Ultimately we arrived at our own solutions by an exchange of thoughts and saw that we were already on our way to having acceptance and understanding.
This article is along the same line....empowering yourself to achieving your dreams and goals...Enjoy, I did. Thanks David

The article is here >>>

zamboni

When I was young, the local mall had an ice skating ring in it. Carolina Circle Mall was built beside the waste water treatment facility which smelled really bad. The mall was also my introduction to the Zamboni. Having lived most of my life in the great warm states of the south, the concept of an ice machine with wheels was fascinating. Later the Carolina Circle Mall closed the ice skating rink and put in a carousel. That was the end of the mall. Short time later the mall was closed and sat empty for many years. A couple of years ago they razed the building and put up a Walmart. We called it SmellMart. Last Friday I finally saw the southern version of the Zamboni.
Here is a picture of one.....

coal

I took the pictures today in one of our server rooms. The one server I have to move in the next week or so. I thought that I would document the setup with pictures. The server has not been turned off in 10 years but we still have data on it that we have to keep for some reason. I think that it has some historical data that another application sometimes references. I hope it comes back up when I turn it on. It is taking up space and we are going to add some more server racks where the old server sits now. coal is like mine....Devo "working in a coal mine"

riptide

Hello All,

I had a few windows open Saturday night. The rain had stopped and I could hear the bullfrogs at the pond singing me a lullaby as I slept. I woke up to the sounds of breaking twigs and leaves being shuffled about. I thought someone was walking in the woods. I got dressed and grabbed a flashlight and a couple of other items then went out the back door. Yes I was creeping around at 3:00am in the country. Crazy city boy. So there I am just standing and every few minutes I would hear a shuffle. I aimed the big 4 cell maglite towards the sound and turned the flashlight on. There he was a big deer and in a flash he was gone. All I saw was about two seconds of his fluffy white tail and then the sounds of crashing branches and leaves has he made the grand escape.

From the picture below you can see that I got a lot of rain today.

I saw my friend Christina tonight. I scheduled a Reiki session with her on Friday.
My bodymind is whacked. If you are local give her a call or plan a road trip.

This next project is not the one that I mention earlier in the week.
I received two 60 gig Ipods a few years ago. One was for the car the other was for the gym. Well within a week of each other they quit working. That was about 6 months ago. Luckily I had a small 2 gig mp3 player that was given to be also. I have been using that but it is not the same as having a trillion albums on the Ipod...ready for any mood that I might be in.

Anyway I stopped in at the Battery Plus store and bought the only battery for my device. I just installed it and it came right up. Songs and photos!

The first picture is a watermelon plant growing from seed. It came up yesterday also!

I have changed the slide show again. The pictures were taken in Merced, CA. My birth place. The base was closed about 14 years ago. They built a Federal Prison there supposedly on top of the bunkers that once housed "the Nukes". The base now runs a small commercial airport. The rest of it is just abandon buildings, equipment and housing. It was like driving through a ghost town. Very strange. Next to the base is a military airplane museum. The triplex house at the beginning is were my parents moved to off base shortly after I was born.

I have quite of few websites that I go to everyday. Most of them are of some type of blog. Many are either technical sites, productivity or self betterment sites and others are on random topics or subjects.

I just read this great article at a daily...here is a link to the article.
zenhabits.net

I always find something there for me. If I had written the article I believe that assumption would be on the list also. Taking for granted one's feelings and also of your partner.

My mantras of lately have been....

"be loyal to yourself"...which I received through a practice of meditation.
and the second one is from a book I read recently
"Don't take anything personally"

I was suppose to be blogging about the rodeo or how it was sort of like a double date except it was just me with Charley(Charles) and Amanda. I paid for the funnel cakes and beverages. We had a good time. I was going to wear my cowboy boots but decide that my old school Vans would put some rock in the country! I kept asking "Where did we park the truck" and "Charley did you bring the Copenhagen" It hard to fit in with a t-shirt, Vans and no belt with a buckle the size of serving tray. I always pull for the bulls and there were a few unhappy bulls tonight.

I feel better now

While at work today, I notice that Wikipedia now has a word suggestion as you type feature. It is a cool feature for me because I usually have to google a word like a spell checker to use the Wiki.

Also I got a hair cut today. Ben the barber said in his Vietnamese voice "Who chop the hair? I did not do this last time" See I like to have spikey, pseudo punk hair..just a little texture with different lengths but short. When my hair starts to grow...I whack at it some. It is still short with a business look with a edge...sort of like the mullet anthem "business in the front party in the back". Please dont misunderstand me...I do not have a mullet. Anyway he got his revenge on me..he said "I cut sort this time" and he did. God I must be tired...blogging about my hair and feelings.

I leave you with this one.....
Do someone a favor and be good to yourself

We won the crazy hat award at work. The prize was $5.00 gift card to Chicfila (There were much better prices to be had). I want the laser color printer or ipod since I don't have a printer and 60Gig Ipod quit working. Off to the rodeo...maybe they have a amateur bull riding contest...I am feeling like a winner already.

byt the way today starts my week of being on call...new policy they implemented while I was out. I get half of day next Friday off...road trip maybe! One night camp and hike!

Still Lab Week here at work. Today was crazy hat day. Charles brought in three marching band hats from Amanda's band. Will did not want to participate so we kept it real and got Damian to represent.

reflections

This afternoon was good. The topics included overcoming fears, self, realization, and friendly encounters. Circles are always complete. Along with deserving good desires and promotion of self with honesty and intgerity. Protecting one's self with bounders are good for self preservation.

What does that all mean...well I guess you will need to read the book. When available.

I did not get my last item for my project but it will happen soon. When I got home this evening I walked down to the pond. There was a family of turtles basking in the sun. There had to be at least 5 or 7 turtles sitting on the edge of a partial retainig wall. I was trying to be stealth like and sneak up on them to take a picture. I ended up stepping on a twig and they jumped into the pond. Oh well. The garden is coming along great. I have about 12 heads of different lettuces that are almost ready to harvest. I may do that on Friday morning and take it to work to feed the hungry.

The future camping trip will have to be put on hold until the end of May. I have two big projects that will require me to work on May 3rd and May 14th. At least it will be warmer then and it will give me time to pick a location. Maybe I will go to Linville Gorge.

Hope you all are well and your life is bright.

I am here at work now. It is Lab Week so they brought in a caterer it was nice. Couple things have happen today. Once again the parking lots were full so I had to park at the Scholastic Book Warehouse. Will got caught cheating on the puzzle they sent out to us for lab week. It was meant for us to have fun but Will had to cheat and Fr*nk called him out in front of the event organizer. It was very funny. I got a call on one of my non-published numbers from a lady trying to sell me a free satellite system. She asked me all types of questions and I gave her incorrect answers. I had the call on speaker phone so everyone could enjoy. She asked for my social #. I gave her a fake one and it just was going on and on. She finally hung up. I have to go to High Point this afternoon and then I am going to work in the garden

|finally|

I feel brilliant today! Actually it started yesterday when my little creative coconut came up with an excellent idea. I got most of the supplies that I need to make it except for one item. I plan on photographing the project and sharing it with you all.

Today is Earth Day. My project has something to do with Earth Day (sounds like I am in school). I am always coming up with kooky stuff. Sir Charles can probably testify to that statement. He and Will (Huey and Louie) have to listen to my ramblings all day. Anyway back to Earth Day. I recycle everything that I can and it makes me feel good..sometimes. I even have added recycling to my garden but more on that later. As you have read previously, I like coffee. There are ramblings of Monster's Java Big Black. I love that stuff. My new friend JeaneJetty suggested that I try a coffee beverage from Japan called Georgia Coffee...it is made by Coca Cola of Japan. Yesterday I searched all over the Internet, called some Japanese restaurants and Asian Markets. I even went to Amazon.jp but then I get busy with work and did not have time to get Google to translate the page for me. Georgia Coffee will not defeat me!

Good fortune has come my way though...remember that today is Earth Day and I said I recycle, even in the garden. Well I planted in the garden four tabs from Big Black cans and we have had a lot rain. So I come home today and look what has sprouted up in the garden.........

Although there are many seasonal blends, Coca-Cola makes Original, Mocha Kilamanjaro, and Emerald Mountain Blend year-round. The coffee can be enjoyed as a cold or hot beverage.

Here is a sample list of the Georgia blends:

In addition, Georgia Club Coffee was introduced in Singapore, and Georgia Gold coffee and tea were introduced in India in 2004.

What a day!
Woke up early, read the paper, went for hike, met friends here to observe the garden, went to prison, left prison, took a relatives tech support call, went (house visit) on said technical support call, and grocery store. No TV today.

By the way the prison part was at the Guilford County Prison Farm. They grow and sell all types of plants. They also have outdoor furniture made there at the farm. The plants are real cheap.

The picture above was NOT taken at the prison. It is behind my house.

dreaming

The only place on the Upper Gauley where we ate it in 2007 . Right after entering and over the first hump, went got dumped. Way before they did in this video. We were a party of three and one guide. We were in 14' team extreme raft when we went in sideways and 2 out of four went in. Only the guide and one other rode it out. I went to the extreme right and meet the rocks twice. The place you don't want to be when out of the raft. The other swimmer (Jerry) I believe saw God underwater. I felt like I was in a washing machine. White and bubbly. It was a rush.
I can not wait until Fall 2008!

I am looking at camping spots right now.

carrion

Namaste

I stopped at the hardware/nursery store on my way home from work. I bought some more seeds and plants. I will plant the seeds tomorrow but the plants when in tonight. I put in watermelon, cantaloupe, red peppers, yellow peppers, spicy basil and tomato plants. My sunflowers have sprouted through the soil! I hope they make it.

I was walking around the "farm" I came across this....a pile of feathers. Looks like a crime scene to me. There was no body. The suspect probably dropped the body in the pond.

I was checking out some camping spots today at w*rk...I was on my break! I might go in two weeks. The last time I went camping it was in the yard. Don't laugh. I had just got my new tent and I wanted to try it out. The guys at work laughed at me. Envy I say. I have to get my cardio backup before a hike. The surgery took its toll.....in more ways then one. Camping and a light stroll would be good.

What about the "The Office" last night...good stuff as usually.

monster

I love coffee. Last year I was leaving Asheville and stopped to buy gas. There it was a six feet tall cutout of Big Black by Monster Java Energy Drink. I had to have one..so I bought two just in case I really liked it. When I got back to Greensboro I found myself driving around to convinence stores looking for the stuff. Now it is practically everywhere. It gets me jacked up..not like jittery jacked up or jacked up for rehab but a long stream of energy and that is my problem tonight. I had one coming home from work because I was going to work in the garden and lawn. Here I am....still. Long live Big Black.
I wonder if Monster used Big Black from MTV's Rob and Big? Monster is a sponsor of Rob. I wish they would sponsor me!

flagged

Greetings,
I spent about an hour last night weeding my garden with my ho and had planned on doing the same task tonight after work. When I came home this evening the Farmer had plowed the weeds between the rows with the tractor. He then re rowed(?) the two rows that I had NOT flagged. I had put seeds in for radishes, eggplant, zucchini and squash. It will be ok. I will put some plants in and reseed.

My dad and his friend Alvin will be arriving this morning. Alvin has two greenhouses on his farm and is bringing me some plants to sow this morning. He is training me. He put in the other plants and my new friends from south of Texas helped me also. No deer visits last night. I checked first thing this morning.

Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in where nature may heal and cheer and give strength to the body and soul. Keep close to Nature’s heart…and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.~ John Muir

box

I have a box. Through out my life I placed various things in this box. Never taking objects out to discard but placing new objects in there. Well actually I have changed the box over the years to larger boxes. Usually when I have moved. Very rarely have I looked at the contents of the box. Today I did...just a little. What I found was lost memories, scribblings of poems and drawings. Pictures that I did know that I had. Letters and artifacts of parts my life. It is funny that now is the time in my life were I am trying to move away from the 1's and 0's (my geekiness is arising), the sensationalism of digital appliances and applications. Today I was showing someone all the pictures that I have taken over the past few years...on my laptop.

I have been learning more about myself in the past eight or nine months. Hiking, camping, whitewater rafting and let's not forget my new project...the garden. Organic is good for you. Don't get me wrong, technology has been very good to me. It is where I get my bread and butter (not sure if that is an idiom or some kooky phrase) The point I am dragging out here is it good to have organic matter. I guess what I need to do is print this out and put it in my box but I don't have a printer. Go figure a IT guy without a printer.

Leave a comment if you care to.
